Games that require thinking
What games can I play that actually require me to think?

Problem solving, tactical battles, maths, strategy.

I like rpgs but most of the time they are more about just grinding until you are strong enough to beat a boss and then progressing.

(edit)

Doesn't have to be PC games I am happy to emulate.

I have played paradox and total war games. Portals and XCOM.

Not really, I found the 'puzzles' take at most 1-2 minutes of thinking.

I've found Divinity Original Sin 1 & 2 require a bit of thinking for puzzles, battles, and just navigating through the game

Galactic Civ II is a slightly more complex version of Civ IV in space.

Vanilla sure, but Civ IV Beyond the Sword came bundled with a mod that dramatically increased the historical accuracy of the games and added a fair bit of complexity.

Rhys and fall I think it was called.

Elderscrolls Arena requires a lot of thinking to solve its litteral riddles.

And unlike other games you can't pick the choice and save scum, its enter text riddles, not pick from a list of choices.
