OBS Studio Pixelated Recording/How to figure out how much bitrate I need
I've recorded and uploaded some videos of me playing video games and I get this grainy, pixelated-like effect in the videos when I watch them afterwards and I had no idea what was wrong. I did a little research and people have mostly said it has something to do with my bitrate when recording, and I have no idea how to tell how much bitrate I need to record authentic HDR videos with no pixelation. PLEASE HELP!

post pictures of your current settings and list your pc specs

ITs often trial and error to see what works best for your system, just mess with the settings in OBS.

YOu can give these a try if you like.

I use for Streaming to youtube etc...

Encoder = X264
Rate control = CBR
Bitrate = 13000 (for streamin it depends a lot on your upload bandwidth, my max is around 15000 or 15Mbit)
CPU usage preset = Fast
profile = High
Tune = None

Looks like this on youtube.

I use:
NVENC H.264 as the encoder.
Rate Control: CBR
Bitrate: 40000
Keyframe Interval: 0
B-Frames: 2

Base Canvas Resolution: 1920x1080
Common FPS Values: 60

Proccess Priority: Above Normal
Renderer: Direct3D 11
Color Format: NV12
YUV Color Space: 709

Also, keep in mind that YouTube's encoding is pretty bad.

CPU Usage Preset - Very fast
Tune - none
Bicubic (16 samples)

I personally use about 4000 or so when I record, and a low-mid 3000 when I stream, and it looks alright when I use the NVENC encoder at 60 FPS. There is some blockiness in the capture (most notable when I edit, it looks riddled with JPEG artifacts) but a little bit of sharpness boost (not much, like 15% at the most) straightens most of that out and a lot of it might just be the small preview window my editor uses freaking out over the rougher bits. I don't record at a super high bitrate mostly because I'm on a laptop with limited memory, if I had the option of several TB of storage space or moving everything to archival HDDs, I would probably still maybe only bump it up to about 5000-6000, as every major step up has dimishing returns.

All I can really say is bump it up a couple hundreds bits at a time and test out a recording. If the capture is getting overloaded, the framerate on the capture is tanking, or your CPU usage is really high, kick it back down a little bit and average it out. If you have a Nvidia card, the NVENC.264 codec is capable of higher framerates on intensive games like Overwatch, though you will need a higher bitrate and the High-quality preset and profile in order to keep the capture from being indecipherable, this is where I get the blockiness.

Thank you very much, I will try this and let you know whether this works out for me.

Looks exactly like your video
Btw tried your settings, the video was laggy AF
That happens with OBS if your computer is not powerful enough. I myself learned of this issue and moved onto another software. Even though it cost money to buy.

I do got another suggestion but it does cost money. What is the most powerful game you can play on the lowest graphics?

Mostly higher graphic games are more powerful. So I mean best looking game graphicly. Or in some cases in processing like a lot of stuff on screen.

I really don't know, I can run Fallout 4, Mad Max, and Assassin's Creed Origins very well.
