Did you ever get a shiny pokémon in any legit way?

By that I mean : eggs, trades, soft resets for a starter or simply catching one (the QR code ones are just legit cheats )

Me? Never, I've tried to SR one in sun but after more than 2k SR (when I stopped counting) I just couldn't get one and never got to play the game because I'm stubborn that way

Now trying to get a shiny Rowlet in Ultra Sun...

Also, I didn't even know that shiny pokémons were a thing until like 3 years ago, always believed the red Gyarados was just a semi-legendary pokémon

Do they have right nature and a 31 in every iv? If so its probably hacked. I've gotten a couple in wonder trade like that and deleted them. One was a perfect shiny karrablast, another a pefect shiny mareanie with hidden ability.

They probably were hacked but it felt amazing to come across them out of the blue.

About 2500 soft resets for a shiny Reshiram in Omega Ruby.

I also did get a couple of other shinies randomly and through wonder trade, but I just traded them forward to get some rarer non-shinies.

Generation 2, back in the day, had an easy trick to make pokemon in generation 1 shiny (mostly used to make Dittos shiny, the Mimic Glitch and double Transform, mostly used through shiny Gyarados learning Mimic TM). Also, breeding with a shiny parent had like 1/64 (?), chances, to have a shiny baby, then, because IVs were different and were tied to shininess (shinies had horrible "genes" and were useless for battling). But i discovered that years later, in emulation.

I owned in Silver (old original), legit shinies: Caterpie, Weedle, Grimer, Gyarados (from story event), event egg from Crystal (western version had lower chance of being shiny but i got a special cleffaa) and a Pinsir traded from Red. Ditto from Glitch, too. In generation 2, though, poke-incest didn't work (no children could breed with direct parents or siblings), so breeding for shinies was still hard, despite the lowered chance and the ludicrous rate. I started in emulation the endeavor of making a complete shiny dex, but abandoned after only 4 lines.

Now, in fangames, i have boxes full of shinies. Some have extremely generous rates for shiny encounters (as high as 1/100) and what's better; custom shiny sprites, some of which are far more pleasing to the eye, or downright creative/original, than the legit, canon ones.

Lots of shiny hunting in the friend safari last gen. Plenty of sos chaining in my copy of sun, my best was a near perfect (Special defense was a 29) shiny modest Vikavolt.

As for wonder trade, a genned shiny 6iv bagon, and a shiny articuno though the stats were crap, so idk if it was genned or not.

I've never gone looking for shinies, but in Pokemon X I randomly caught a shiny Furfrou a couple days after starting the game. A bit later I caught a shiny Pumpkaboo. I also got a shiny Charmander from wondertrade but it might have been hacked.

Only Shiny Gyarados......from my Gold Silver days....don't really play pokemon anymore...I'm an original 150-ier mentality....although I acknowledge the first ~250 are good roughly.
