I would actually suggest Blood Money or 2, but I am gonna guess the "Those are old" argument might rear it's ugly head.
Still, you don't even have to go that far.
Blood money has decent graphics and is very good.
Absolution tho...really,really good, but i dunno if it is better than Blood Money.
Good graphics, decent storyline, well made levels...maybe because it is not as "You have a target and do what you want" as in earlier games, and levels are for sure smaller than in eariler games.
Still,i played it on Xbox and i enjoyed it.
Still a really good game though. I didn't even mind when Edio slapped the same thing in Tomb Raider. Sometimes it's just fun to PLAY a game as opposed looking for a hard time. It's probably why I have hundreds of hours in Red Dead, ME3, MGSV, and Lollipop Chainsaw.
Yeah, that also might took a game into more casual way...
Its not a bad game, it was just the wrong corners turned in moving the game forward. Following a great game that had moved the bar pretty far like blood money was almost certain to draw negative views from fans.
Then in that case, just buy the latest HITMAN game. It's practically the true successor of Blood Money and contains 16 missions including:
- The Main Six Episodes
- The Prologue with two training missions (available as a free demo)
- Three Summer Bonus Episodes
- One Holiday-Themed Mission
- The Latest "Patient Zero" Campaign with four new missions
"Instinct" can be ignored but it's a requirement in order to make your disguises work to people who wears the same uniform as you.
Just because it has good graphics doesn't make the game any better than the previous four games or the latest 2016 game. Also, please get rid of the "graphics over gameplay" mindset.
I hardly called the story "decent", it's subpar at best.
It has its moments but the story overall is basically just finding the damsel in distress. What's so exciting about that?
The levels are fine but the Hitman series is known for its core gameplay of assassinating the targets in a big sandbox map, not going from point A to point B.
If you think that it's better to make the franchise less about killing the targets in any way you like and more about being a typical linear cover-based stealth game, you're probably not even a Hitman fan since you only played Absolution, the black sheep of the franchise.
The checkpoint system is not really helpful.
It just resets the whole map with all the NPCs (excluding the targets) that were been killed or subdued gets restored to their original position.
And how is it easier?
Saving the game in the middle of a mission manually and able to load it is more convenient than having a checkpoint that appears randomly on the map and doesn't even save the current situation or progression of the map.
While Absolution is a good game on its own, it's an awful Hitman game.
There's fair amounts of people in the Hitman subreddit that can explain it better than me:
