If you really wanna live a crappy life then China is the way to go.
Take a video game. It has a challenge, goals and achievement. This is why the human brain enjoys it so much. Our brain doesn't want simple/perfect, it actually wants some chaos and challenge factor, this builds towards a reward system. We however know if we fail at it, we can try again and again, till we finally get it. The harder the challenge the bigger the reward tends to be. So long there's progress, we will stick with it.
This is the actually same deal with real life.
Say you want to play a musical instructment. It's a challenge to learn and develop upon, stick with it, try and try again, making small progress each time. You will come to enjoy it.
Same deal with joining a sport, going to the gym/exercising, etc.
The only thing really holding you back from real life is your fear from trying and sticking with it. It's easier to avoid and not try, as we assume if we don't try, we can't fail. That's merely fooling ourselves and no reward system of the brain is triggered. We therefore look for shortcuts and quick solutions, but those are only temporary and never last.
It's really about sticking with something, trying and trying again. If you don't give up, you can't fail.
