Why do males play mostly female characters?
so I was playing some WoW and joined a discord for an activity, I was the only female there but in the game everyones characters were female so it got me wondering.

What attracts males to playing female characters?

because male characters are ugly

Because I'd rather have a female character on my screen than a male one. Playing as males turns you gay

"Why do males play mostly female characters? "

That's a pretty generalized statement w/o data to back it

but do all guys seen male characters as ugly? its such a large scale thing especially on WoW. Even when playing random groups if your character is female you get called a he because everyone just assumes its another guy playing the female character.

First, it's a generalization.

Second, it's fun to experiment.

Third, some people may use it to catfish other males and get free items.

In most games I find the female characters have nicer clothes and accessories. I like my characters to look nice. Plus, I'd rather see a female character on my screen 90% of the time. But in first-person games, I'll play male characters.

I'm betting the same people that use female characters are the same people that have the propensity to pretend like they are female on the internet.

-Most of the time, female character design is far more detailed than male design.
-You're going to spend a lot of time behind your character, especially in WoW, why not choose a butt that you enjoy looking at?
-The (mostly male) fantasy of dominating a women entirely
-Baiting clueless guys to give them loot

There's probably more than that but it's most of the time for sexual reasons

Smaller hit boxes.

Also, i have to say, most of the times the male character models look pretty generic when compared to the female ones (in MMORPGs). It's pretty clear which one they spend more time on putting details.

I play exclusively as a male (unlesss the game has a forced female protagonist like tomb raider) because I'm a guy so I relate more with guys. my best guess is most dudes just like staring at ass

No clue. I always play as a male character. Most of the times as myself.

If I'm not playing as myself I play as the weirdest looking character I can crap out with the character creator. Still male, though.

Depends if I'm role playing in the game world or not. Currently playing a male vampire in Skyrim called Ricky the Vampire Layer. In another game (Bloodlust) I chose a female vampire witch called Selene. When I played D:OS I chose a male & a female lone wolf in one PT just for a change.

Sometimes female armour looks nicer or if a female has specific skills that the male doesn't. Maybe it's sort of like instead of looking at a picture of an attractive female you're actually able to see her in the game world? Or the sound of her voice too?

I'd say for me it's possible that with premade characters where I cannot create my own I might tend to choose female over male. Never really thought much about it or why tbh.

Although to contradict myself, in L4D2 I prefered to play as Bill or Nick so I really don't know.
