How does an open world racing game works?
I've never experienced any kinds of open world racing games before except midnight club. But, i even forgot how it was turned cuz it's like 10 years ago eventhough i still remember a little bit about the awesome quests. What i can sum is that racing games usually follows a linear track that must be passed by the racers in order to win the race. Im other hand open world games usually allows the players to do such thing as "free roaming" around the map and such. So, how does an "open world" racing games works?

You race around the city, you find random things in the city to do (primarily racing, speedruns, etc.) and you customize your car along the way. There's really nothing more.

Usually the open world bit is free roaming, but players can join races in the open world.

Well, both of you already answered my question clearly. Thanks

Taking a game like Burnout Paradise, you can compete in events to unlock cars or bikes or you have the option of free roam, my favourite, jump on a bike and away we go :)

To each their own. Personally I find Paradise to be the best in the series.
No roadblocks. Carmageddon and Midtown Madness were like that.
