Ewoks or Porgs?
If you were to choose between the two critters from the world of Star Wars, which would you prefer?

But what about Jar Jar Binks?

Ewoks. I'll take noble savages over obvious merchandising any day.

They may to small and fluffy, but Ewoks are clearly a savage warrior culture. It's hinted at repeatedly through the film.

> When Leia encounters an Ewok, it's first reaction is to poke her with a spear and then attempt fight her.

> Later on Ewoks are revealed to be cannibals. They capture the rest of the party with the intention of cooking them alive and eating them. This isn't a practical behaviour - killing their captives first would've made cooking them easier. But clearly the Ewoks wanted them to suffer terribly. The only thing that dissuaded them was, from the Ewok's perspective, God telling them not to.

> Almost all of the Ewoks shown on screen are armed in some way. Several wear hats or helmets made from bones and skulls, or animal skull/tooth necklaces. Skulls also appear on their spears AND around their village.

> During the battle for the Shield Bunker, Ewoks take on Stormtroopers armed with Blasters using nothing but sticks and rocks. Losses are high, but the Ewoks ultimately route their attackers.

> At the end of the film, Ewoks are shown using the helmets of their slain enemies as musical instruments. It's also unclear whether they're just helmets - they way well be severed heads. This dovetails with my above point that Ewoks clearly place spiritual value in skulls and heads of those that they have slain.

Blatant merchpenguin who's only reason to exist is to sell plushies. When you see how every female viewer's eyes lit up the moment they see it you know it will print money for Disney.

Maybe the porgs, but not the ewoks, they seemed an original alien species at the time.
