Do You Prefer Your Anime Dubbed or Subbed?

I've watched many different dubbed anime during my time and I have to say I prefer it over subbed, but I understand why people would prefer sub to dub at times, I've also found some very horrible dub voice actors during my time, the kind that make you cringe at the sound of their voice.

Some of my favorite dubs would include Dragonball Z, Fullmetal Alchemist, Jojo's Bizzare Adventure, Attack on Titan and some others I can't name right now.

Dragonball Z gets me every time with their amazing voice actors, this quote gets me every time. "Screaming in English"

Subbed. The dubbed voices tend to sound weird and some things may have been mistranslated to fit the mouth movements.

I find that the dubs that don't try to stick too closely to the literal meaning but instead feel free to deliver the narrative/emotional meaning of the scene as best they see fit, are the best.

Depends, I watch sub most of the time because it feels authentic, but reading does kinda distract you from what's going on.

Subbed. And it goes for all media. F.e., I wouldn't want to watch a german movie dubbed into English or my native language, as it takes away some of the authenticity.

This. Anything subbed is better than dubbed.

It really depends. Back when I watched a whole lot of the stuff there wasn't usually an option since the subbing groups don't dub stuff. For stuff where I have DVDs (also applies to rips of such things, of course...) that actually have a dubbed version, I used to watch the first episode in both versions to decide which one to go with.

These things have also been interesting not just because of the actors being good or not-so-good. Sometimes, the dubbed version would be very different from the subs on the same DVD, which in turn are usually much shorter than what the anime subbing groups produced for the same show.

This is different with English stuff. I do prefer the English version -- but that's because I can understand it. I might keep (English) subtitles enabled as well, for cases where my "English error correction" isn't quite a good as my native German one (like distorted voices, lots of background noise etc.). None of this applies to Japanese, though.

Again, depends on what I'm watching. Shows like Bebop or Berserk just sound way better in dub, but shows like One Piece are infinitely better in sub.

I go English Dub all the way. Not because I don't like Japanese; it's because I don't wanna be looking up and down at the subtitles all the time.

Dubs are made without the direction of the original team usually, mainly the director.

They sound off, even if the translation is remotely good (though this also affects subs unfortunately), and sometimes half-assed.

Voice acting is important to anime for many reasons, and it's not something extraneous that can be just taken away and replaced with whatever (as dub apologists claim it is).

I don't really agree with the second half the video myself. But the first part was a bit interesting. But once he starts sjw warrioring its time to abandon ship.

The arguments he makes against those Funimation dubs are accurate. Maybe you haven't seen Kobayashi-san, but it's very blatant about its lesbian themes.
