The rest is meh for me. The Next Generation is okay, but I'm not gonna sit down to watch it by myself. Oh, and I like the newer movies.
That's the appeal.
Kirk is best captain. He's single-handedly sired the population of at least a dozen planets and probably some whales, too.
I'm actually quite liking Discovery, feels a lot like a mix between the tone and intent of latter day DS9 and the occasional episode of Voyager.
Fav to least:
DS9/TNG
Last two seasons of Enterprise
TOS
STD
VOY
First two seasons of Enterprise
Animated
DS9 was probably the better series holistically, especially character and plot development, even the first season didn't suck. And probably has my favourite Trek character ever in Garak, but it also has my most hated in Bashir. TNG I think had more memorable (to me at least) individual episodes like Devil's Due, Best of Both Worlds, Yesterday's Enterprise, All Good Things, Chain of Command, Darmok, Remember Me, and countless others that weighs out things that drag it down (like most of the Troi episodes). So, it's hard for me to crown a clear winner, I love both.
I also liked Bashir. I think O'Brien and him played well off of each other
I think Troi is the worst trek character. She might even be the worst t.v. character of all time
*Cuddles in Firefly blanket* Whoops, wrong blanket.
*Grabs Battlestar pillow* Wrong again.
*Pulls out Farscape jacket from under bed* Danget.
*Twenty Scifi fandom merchandise later and still cannot find Star Trek robe*
sigh, I really need to down size.
Dominion war boring? Odo boring?
HMPF!
DS9 was great....Quantum torpedoes....full spread
Voyager tamed down the Borg, otherwise was pretty good, but Species 8472 was a letdown
TNG had some great stories but was the start of the PC movement
Enterprise sucked except for In a Mirror, Darkly, where they showed they could actually write a decent script
Discovery is an abortion, not even canon and only fit for 14 year olds and should be burnt at the stake
DS9 - Yea, they didn't Trek very often, but I loved the political nature of that show, especially the last two or three seasons, with the Dominion Invasion story line. I also like that, unlike the other series', DS9 was a big giant story arc. Think about it. You can jump into most any episode of most any season of TNG or VOY or ENT and be fine. They all stand alone. Miss one or two episodes of DS9 and you're all like 'what the eff is going on here? What did I miss?' My biggest gripe with DS9 is THEY NEVER WRAPPED UP THE SERIES WITH A MOVIE!!!!!! (edit: how can anyone not think the USS Defiant wasn't the most badass of ships?)
TNG - Two reasons. One, the acting and SFX on this show were amazing for their time and I like to think that smartphones are a direct result of TNG (Padd=iPhone). And number two, I went to the same middle and high school as Jonathan 'Commander Riker' Frakes.
VOY - This would have been lower had it not been for Kate Mulgrew. She's a powerful actress and was the perfect choice as Captain. Jeri Ryan was also great, and not just for her body. She's a tremendously gifted actress as well.
TOS - Bleh. I can see why people love TOS. The plot and storytelling were so far ahead of their time as to be ridiculous, but the production values and SFX and honestly wooden acting of Shatner kills TOS for me. Some of the movies were okay, though, namely STIII (Seach for Spock).
ENT - To be honest, I watched like three episodes and quit. Not my cup of tea. And Scott Bakula, who was great in Quantum Leap, sucked in ST.
I've not seen the new series yet, so I can't rank it.
And Odo, I just loved that character... And the villains from Walun to Gul Dakat, I just can't see how any startrek fan can't love DS9.
Not to mention it had the most epic starship battles in the whole series. I will say it did start off kinda slow, but didn't take long to get good.
