Witch Final Fantasy is the best?

Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization came out and it was just what I'm looking for, but my pc is too crap. Final Fantasy looks kind of similar so I want to try it out, so witch is the best one?

VII is much praised, but personally, I think, IX is the best one of the series. Zidane is just a much more relatable protagonist than Cloud (and the "You are not alone"-scene is possibly among the best ones in gaming history).

FF4&6 for the classics. 7&9 for the 3d. FF5&tactics for the job system

10 is also good, but i miss the overworld aspect from prev FF

Story-wise, VII and X are pretty solid. Gameplay-wise, I enjoyed the freedom to reposition our characters in XII. As well as choosing every equipment so you can have an entire team of DPS if you want. They changed that in the International Zodiac version (I think it was called that) though, where you have job systems.
