What are Americans obsessed with peanut butter and pasta?

They taste freaking horrible ( I might be allergic to peanuts though,I had a horrible fit after i ate a dish in a restaurant that contained a slight amount of peanuts.

But I've never heard of anyone using it in pasta. I mean actual peanut buter directly. It might be used as a substitue for peanut sauce which is common in thai cuisine. Since most people dont have peanut sauce, they would likely substitute peanut butter instead.

Though note that Thai cuisine uses a lot of peanuts in their food including noodles. But its more of a sauce constency rather than spreadable.
