The Nintendo Switch Battery Experiment
I'm testing the nintendo switch battery life at half brightness while standing in an open spot in breath of the wild. The switch was estimated to get about 3-3 1/2 hours of battery life while playing botw at max brightness. Let's just see how true that really is. I'm aware that this has already been done but being the muckraker that I am, seeing is believing. Will continue to update this post with new information until the experiment is complete.

So far: The battery has drained 13 percent in 10 minutes.
The battery has drained 25 percent after 20 minutes
The battery has drained 38 percent after 30 minutes
The battery has drained 77 percent after one hour
Battery warning at 1 hour and 6 minutes - 15 percent remaining
Second battery warning at 1 hour and 13 minutes - 5 percent remaining
Sleep warning at 1 hour and 16 minutes - 1 percent remaining

The battery is currently stuck at 1 percent after 1 hour and 38 minutes. Clearly this is an indicator issue despite having calibrated it just the night prior. I'll calibrate the battery again and re-test using my method, then I'll test 999999999's method by playing the game normally. If the battery doesn't fix itself after calibrating we can conclude that it is either a software or hardware issue. Hopefully not the latter

Switch finally dead after 3 hours and 6 minutes.

You need to calibrate the battery proper first before making such a test.

Standing still is not a good test for the battery life. You have to be playing to get a better comparison.

the battery would drain different amounts depending on the quality of the area that link is in. It would be more consistent to stand at a designated location where the quality is the same throughout the duration of the test

That is not real world testing then. If that's the case, just sit in the inventory screen.

Are you also going to try less demanding games along with Zelda? How many other batteries do you have?

for now it'll be zelda until I test multiple methods. I'll do it again in the future when other more demanding games release, such as xenoblade 2

I would test it in the home screen as well as a grassy area in BotW and maybe in Splatoon if you have that.

sitting on the home screen wouldn't be pushing the switch's limits as much as actually having the game loaded
