Why are anime training arcs so boring?
I'm on the greed island arc of HunterxHunter anime, and I'm already sick of it. I'm not fond of Biske, and why can't we have it so Gon and Killua discover stuff on their own?

Are there any anime training arcs where it doesn't feel like a slog?

Boku no Hero Academia has an enjoyable training arc, but it's also short.

Can't think of any others that are in the typical shounen-genre, since I usually don't watch stuff from that genre.

It really depends on the anime and the creator of the original souce material; some are good, and some are not. Just gotta find them.

mostly these days artist make what people want to see. my teachers tell me that's how it works because not everybody is gonna like what YOU like, so we have to draw and animate what THEY want to see. i hate the fact that this is true but its not gonna stop me from trying

That doesn't apply to most anime though, since they're adaptions of manga.

Even if the animators were to do that, they'd be completely wasting their time, which is a lose-lose situation for both, especially considering the payment that japanese animators get. A good animation studio wouldn't go for that route, either.

That reminds me, I do need to get around to watching that. I've got a backlog of recommend anime to watch.

At least with the hunter's exam it makes sense for it to take awhile. This arc didn't need another teacher.
