The n64 controller was horrific so bad that i consider the joystick to be a fluke and just consider the duelshock to be the true pioneer of the joystick.
In my opinion.
i played it on the 3ds
it has an record for longest average plays with 1.30 hours
There isn't too much nostalgia at play here, I had it on the Wii's virtual console and played it around 2011. It took forever to beat, but only because I got lost on my own-- it doesn't really waste your time with filler, but the hour count is well into the hundreds anyway.
I honestly don't get why people like Majoras Mask far more. You spent all the time as child link.
The time rewind got annoying after having done it for far too long. Having to keep a list of all the events going on and know when to be at those locations was fun for a while.
Link turning into a Zora, Deku or Goron was okay but I would much more prefer being Adult link. Which you could be at the very end of the game when you got all the masks.
The moon itself wasn't really that scary.
Zelda: OoT is better than Majoras Mask. It had better pacing. It actually felt good to fix areas and have them be fixed. Being adult link with Master sword was awesome. You could use bigger and stronger weapons. You moved away from kids weapons to actually adult weapons and shields.
The light world becoming to dark world was also more impressive. You got to see the bad stuff Ganon had done. But this time being an adult you could actually do something against him.
Zelda OoT is a lot better than Majoras Mask.

Look I know people like MGS games but the story is far from quality work. Just watch that and you'll see. It's also pretty fun.
There is one for the Shagohod

The Crab tank that is.
That is nothing compared to the first hours of Zelda OoT. Back then I was so immersed into the game and the sound work for a N64 was actually quite amazing.
Also the only reason they interact with each other is because they had to do it with the time mechanic. It doesn't change that fact that having to redo all of that when starting a new game was not exactly fun.
You encounter most of the NPCs once or twice. That's it.
I cared more for Zelda when she was hiding than any of the characters in Majoras Mask.
I couldn't finish either I lost interest so fast.
the mario 64 was more loved than the ds version
aka the game to speedrun
much like Oot
I know nintendo, I'm playing a mario game, stop forcing your brand loyalty down my throat.
before metal mario came to mk7 and got ruined
it would have a big backlash when they make a remake of Oot for the switch
dunno, they might do like the crash remake and make a Oot + legend quest + major mask bundle game with updated graphics and non-compressed music (similar to the conkers bad fur day remake).
With the switches slightly better preformance they could improve areas like hyrule field and add in more npcs and stuff everywhere.
Of course it'll have amebbooooos
