Does the show ray donovan get better after episode one?

I am curious about that one too. The Painter at work is always going on about that show and telling me to watch it. I just can't bring myself to start it for some reason though.

I have seen both of those and they are both good in their own ways. And if you liked Breaking Bad you will probably like Ozark as well.

First episodes are usually pretty weak, they have to focus on establishing characters and world building, so they may seem boring because of all of the information being dumped onto the viewer.

I've never heard of Ray Donovan, but I'd say give it two more episodes and see if it gets interesting.
