The worst things about forums?

So, Steam, what do you think the worst things about forums are? Forums, for me, are the superior form of online discussion (opposed to, say, social media) and I've used them for a couple of years. Generally, I love them. But they have their downsides.

I personally think that people not being able to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ read in off topic is the worst. It takes 2 seconds to search for something, yet people constantly post ♥♥♥♥ in the wrong forum, post things that are very clearly against the rules, etc. Because of this you end up with a lot of annoying/useless threads rehashing the exact same discussions over and over again and it's frustrating as ♥♥♥♥.

That said, forums in general are cool. They're a good platform for discussing things (such as lame ♥♥♥♥ like anime). So long as there aren't too many unbearable idiots like myself hanging around ruining things.

the degenerative liars, and dunning-kruger users, as well as those who talk in endless circles - without any constructive, or meaningful input.

but, i think the largest problematic group of forum users, are those who post in forums of games they no longer play [that they inherently despise or dislike,] just to troll and waste time with legitimate threads, only in an exercise to pander for attention.

Apologies for bumping, i used to love using forums, which they are superior over social media, discussions i've used to do but not anymore like these previous years which turns out Facebook now is better than forum.

The good thing about the forum is that they have introduced their own photo storage server, considering that in recent years I have also been losing to imageshack, photobucket, tinypic and similar image storage sites.

When forums are created, as a railfan myself who was former member on railway forum, everything feel so good, everyone will post anything about railway, wagons, railway sidings. I really enjoyed discussing, hanging out, i meet other railfan friends which i have done together with them actions with trainspotting hobby.

I enjoyed getting discussions, hang out with mates.

I did not have problems with photo gallery bumping such as 'Super image, really like it!'.

Now the forum word does not stand anything for me anymore, 'forum' is just a sold out word to World Economic 'Forum'.

Most old forums are filled with censorships, deleting your post for no reason, and besides that, they now put a 'like and other activities emojis' just like on Facebook which really disgusts me, i have done travelogue, and i am extremly dissapointed that olny memebers instead of commenting, olny two likes and thats all, while other non related hobbies such as trucks, cars, trams and other things receive over 15 or 30 likes. Moderators or admins are arrogant and remove your post without any reason.

Besides we all respected the rules on the forum, admins and moderators do not, some of members on few forums got same 'deleting' posts by moderators.

But it is important that they let some members who are full of 'salt of wisdom' who imagine that they are God on the forum. After I left, and an insider contacted me, they then wondered why social networks were overtaking them, and there are many other former members of the forum who switched to Facebook.

I have two travelogue and i'm thinking to avoid at all costs, this is not forums that i wanted. Forums that copy Facebook are worse than Facebook.

And today even old members or new one that live close, no one will do any request, post anything important about railways such as siding, wagon, which makes me dissapointed.

Other worst forums besides that contain like system i hate is the ones that admin can deactivated your account if you are inactive like for one month.

Internet etiquette on forums are not respected, everyone argues and fight, and mods do not do nothing.

Out of all ten forums where I am a member, if they introduce a like system, I will leave only four, because the Facebook like system is killing them. Shame how times are passing from good to worse.

So much for today's internet forums, ill rather return to 2014 era than 2019.

Yes, i hate using Facebook, but due to my hobby i've had to move it there since i have no choice, since i dumped forums for above listed reasons.

forums make too much sense as an internet communication platform for me to care to nitpick them. That is before comparing them to the absolute garbage that is social media, or real time chat rooms.
