Ideally you shouldn't be 'building credit'. You will save more money by buying wallet funds from the store with cash.

You will have to pay it back with interest and being a new credit card holder the interest will be high. And if you only make minimum payments most of your payment goes on the interest and only a little goes on your principal balance.

Edit: If you really want a credit card, go with a debit card. At least that way you have full control of what goes into the card and whats comes out. No interest rates or any other scummy bank practices.

In order to be aproved you have to have a decent credit score. If not they will deny you for having to low of a credit score cause yes they will check it to see if you are a bad risk. Also having no credit history is also bad and they won't lend you money cause you need to have a higher credit score to approve you. So baiscly you have to have credit to get credit if you have a low score or no credit score then you don't get the credit card. So your going to ask how can i get credit if they won't give it to me well that is where the catch 22 comes in to play.

To get a good credit score you need to buy things on credit and make payments on it(Pretty much it). Not paying your credit balance off or not buying anything on credit with deterorate your credit score. Steam games are very very cheap. If you need a credit card to purchase a few cheap games then you should not have one at all as it is obvious you would rack up massive debt and then it would actually be hard to get anything at all let alone a steam game. Credit is not free money, you are going to pay it back with intrest and in the end the credit companys are making a massive profit off of you.

It is acceptable to use credit for large transactions you would normally not be able to afford, such as a last minute vaction with friends, a car or a house are acceptable uses of credit.

My friend just told me how to start credit without having a credit history. You can perform the shopping cart trick where you pretend to buy something online and an offer will show up to apply for a credit card which is not a hard inquiry but a soft which the bank can't see much information on your credit report.
