I think its a horrible thing to do as it is usually lying to the person behind the screen who is desperate for a relationship. I'm been seeing a lot of these lately. What do you think?

100% of the time? That's pretty cynical. I've known couples who met online, and now have happy real-life relationships. Not everyone online is pretending to be somebody else.
