Origin not connecting to internet

I haven't played a game through Origin in a while so I decided to try Battlefield 4 again. A message pops up on my screen that says "Origin installation requires an internet connection, but we are unable to connect to the internet. Please check your connection and try again. You may also download the latest version of Origin here: http://download.dm.origin.com/origin/live/OriginSetup.exe "

I already have Origin on my PC so why does it want to install it again without telling me there is a newer version available? When I do click on that link, I download the new installer and after selecting the specifications of the install (shortcuts and other stuff), it goes "Whoops - the installer encountered an error. Please quit and restart the installation. You'll be up and running in no time." Except I'm not. Anyone having this same problem?

origin support is actually one of the best it's way better than steam support

op you should try uninstalling and then reinstalling origin
if origin is not showing up in the list of programs to uninstall, go to your origin folder and give yourself admin rights
then you delete your origin folder, NOT your origin games folder
go to origin site and download the installer and reinstall

May be being blocked by your firewall. Make sure it has permissions.
