From my understanding of talking to other asexual people over the years on some lgbt forums, asexuals range from "just do not care about sex" to the other extreme where it actually squicks them out.

Aromantics will sometimes have sex but want no relationship out of it, but I am just purely a gay guy so I really do not understand all the other orientations perfectly myself.

Everyone I have knows irl who were not purely hetero have been bi, bicurious or gay.

You're not wrong that preference is based on what you find attractive, but finding something attractive is a bit different from being attracted to that thing.

If you simply don't want to be in a relationship, then that's it. Not wanting to be in one due to lack of attraction is another thing.
