Yeah, I was quite surprised at the sudden tonal shift. Same with "Chrono Crusade". Man, that show had me hurting afterwards.

"Ai Yori Aoshi" is also pretty good. A bit like AMG, and with much similiar flaws. But for whole-hearted romance bordering on saccharine, it works.

"The Story of Saiunkoku" Very under-rated, imo, has a happy ending. Very GoT before GoT!
