From the Washington Post:

“It’s great when the critics and audiences are in sync but in the end it comes down to: Has the film reached the intended audience?” said Adrian Smith, Sony’s president of domestic distribution. “Seeing these results, it clearly has.”

Sony is expecting the film, which cost an estimated $50 million to produce, to play well for the rest of the summer.

Bare in mind that $25M came from mostly people going in blind. It's unlikely the total gross will get much higher than that.

Well the movie itself is full of well known talent. For the price of a premium burger from McD, I'd go to see it blind, just to see if it was any good or not.

In fact, were it not for the fact that I only found out it was coming out the night before the premier, and I had nobody to see it with, I probably would have gone in blind. I'd have taken my dad. He loves weird ♥♥♥♥ like this.

I don't think they're getting the memo guys.

Well, one of my favorite animated films is Prince of Egypt, which was about Moses.

I feel like Sony Pictures Animation is a bit of a Hit-Miss studio. I mean.. They brought us Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, but at the same time, they also brought us Open Season..
