What's GOG (Good Old Games)?
Never used it and it's the first time I ever heard of it.

lol
Primarily DRM-free games, as others have noted. Though not all "old" games anymore, there are quite a few new releases on there as well - and some games are released there that aren't released on Steam, for whatever reason (like The Saboteur). They also periodically have a (growing) list of titles that you can add to your GOG library for free if you already own the games on Steam. Like Steam, games come and go from their store (like Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena). They seem to oddly have a growing relationship with EA, as demonstrated by recent DRM-free releases of Dragon Age Origins (Ultimate), Mirror's Edge (the first one), Spore (complete) and Crysis, among others.

There's little reason to buy from them aside from wanting DRM-free games, but sometimes their sales are actually better than Steam's - and having redundant game libraries doesn't hurt.

I don't buy much from GOG, so for.all I know they canceled it, but I remember hearing a year or two ago that they were coming out with their own version of Early Access ("Games in Development" or something). It sounded like a MUCH better way to do EA than what Steam does now, so that may also be a reason to get games from GOG.

It also has a better refund policy.

It's also pretty good at pointing out who's a condescending loser who never accomplished anything in life.
YAY for freedom to judge the entire character of people from one thing they did!
It may be condecending in a way but you're the ones that are causing the most harm by answering questions where the information is right there, it promotes laziness and it's hardly a discussion.

To actually help people, you must teach them to help themselves.

But it takes about the same ammount of effort to type the question into Steam as it does Google, and because Steam discussions show up in Google searches, it's now even easier for people to get an answer by Googling.
I have GOG Galaxy, have a couple hundred games on it... GOG does a way better job at re-releasing the older games. Take Fallout 3 here....it runs like crap, if at all on any Windows7 or later systems....I bought it on GOG, installed a hundred or so mods and have not had a single crash in just over 126 game hours. I also collect all the Commodore 64 games they have on thier site as well.... awesome.

It's not condenscending "in a way". It's something worthy being purged from the gene pool via reproduction restrictions; and I'm saying that with 100% seriousness. In the future, we don't need folks that have their heads so far up their own asses that they're back on the shoulders.

Also when I take over the world, I'm going to train first responders in the art of "teaching people to help themselves".

I swear I saw this exact thread happening few weeks ago.

GOG is a store with games either pre-packaged with the old-ish version of DOSBox with that pretty meh nGlide wrapper, or some fixes from the internet, or just as it because it just works. Good if you can't afford old gaming PC. Bad if you have one because you can't install GOG games on Win98, and even then some fixes might render the game unplayable under its intended system.

The only game I bought off GOG was from a DOS game. Yes it came with DOSbox, but I remember being able to look at the files and run them directly without much difficulty. Obviously a DOS game won't work natively on my 64-bit OS, and I don't have Windows 98, but I was able to run it through XP mode, which has limited native DOS compatibility.
