Switzerlands guinea pig law

In switzerland it is aparently illegal to own one guinea pig by its self. But I was wondering what if one died and one lived, would you have a certian time limit to buy a guinea pig after the other died or would you have to get rid of the other one?!

A stab in the dark, there would have to be some kind of grace period to allow you to replace or rehome.... does this only apply to guinne pigs ?, what about pet rats, mice, gerbils, rabbits, etc, if not, thats an odd one.

I think its only guinea pigs as they are a very social species aparently whereas other animals like a door mouse will spend a lot of time alone.

A couple over the road from me owned a husky, just one and no other pets and they worked all day and only took it out at the weekends and you could see the poor thing clawing away the windows during the day. They eventually rehomed it, but it pissed me off the way it was treat during the time they had it, I would be very suprised if it didn''t have some sort of lasting mental helth problems as a result.

What if the newly introduced guinea pig refuses to get along with the current inhabitant? To the point of attacking or actually killing them? If the original occupant showed signs of stress due to the sudden forced change to its environment, would it be best to remove the aggressor to avoid any further conflict?

No, its not. If you are talking about the law, guinea pigs are group animals and they REALLY need a partner.

Nah, you don't need to replace it. Also most petshops will tell you about the law to sell you an other guinea pig, but you can just say that you already have one.
Also this law is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ retarded since most of the pets to which this law applies tend to murder each other on certain conditions
