How do doctors predict height in a younger patient?
I have never been to the doctor (Never needed to) and have no idea how they predict height. So for anyone that's knows, how do they do it?

In our country the nurse measures them. But guess with some exprience you can do it with eyes with minimal error. I work as a designer and I can pretty much tell the size of something with 1-2 cm difference.

Does it really matter? It's a prediction and without even seeing you it can be completely wrong.

Their prediction is likely based on averages using data collected the previous year. If all 16 year old boys or girls in the last year averaged 1.2 metres in height then that's what the doctor will predict.

By looking at the parent that brought them in.

But I've never heard of doctors guestimating future height, I usually got those guestimates from my parents, who predicted I'd be 5'11. I came up slightly shorter.

I think it's odd that my shoe size is the same as my height (+5ft)

There is the common height calculator equation however I was looking for a more accurate way they measure it, like if they take x rays for example.

Okay, so I looked it up

Take the parents' heights and add them together. Add 5 inches (13cm) for boys and subtract 5 for girls. Divide by 2.

So, for example, my parents are both 72in tall. 144 - 5 = 139 / 2 = 69.5in which is my height.
For my brother 144 + 5 = 149 / 2 = 74.5in which is my brother's height (I think).
I've got another brother who is taller, though (as tall as my grandfather)
and a sister who is shorter (as short as my grandmother)
so it's really just a guess.
