Minecraft lag on a good computer?
I AM CONSTANTLY UPDATING THE 3RD PARAGRAPH. KEEP CHECKING IT FOR UPDATES.
I have a GTX 1070 and an i5 6600k 3.5 ghz cpu. For some reason i get around 30 frames in Minecraft no matter what i set the settings to. I have done hours of reasearch on this problem and I still can't find a solution. Here's what i've tried:

Uninstalling and reinstalling java and minecraft.
Allocating more ram to java and minecraft
Setting the priority of minecraft to realtime in task manager.
checked to make sure minecraft was using my gpu and not my cpu (I have a desktop)
setting the render distance to short
downloading optifine
restarting my computer numerous times

Three more things to note. My frames are fine in the mini windowed display of minecraft, but if I go into fullscreen by pressing F11, my frames are at 60 for maybe five seconds and then they drop down to 30 again. Also, yesterday I updated my GPU drivers while i was trying to figure out the problem. After it finished I started minecraft and it played perfectly with hundreds of frames in fullscreen. I hopped on today and it went back down to 30. I'm not sure if it is related at all, but I thought it would be good to note. Last thing. I tried playing some of the Technic modpacks to see if there was a difference. before I launched the launcher, it said that I needed java, which i had deleted in an effort to fix my game. (minecraft comes onboard with java now) I downloaded java and launched a mod pack. BOOM! 60 fames. for some reason after going into technic I just went in and i got 60 on vanilla. hmmm. I closed out of vanilla and opened it back up again. Back to 30. -_- I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with this. Thanks!

P.S. i'm sorry for the bad grammar. Like I said ive done hours of reaseach on this topic and im just too tired to go back and correct everything. Sorry people with OCD :/

P.S.S. I know I posted this in off topic bc minecraft is not a steam game but please let me know if there is a better place on steam to put it. I really don't want to make a minecraft forum account.

Check if Minecraft is using your dedicated GPU instead of an onboard one.

you mean in nivida control panel? I don't even have that option bc I have a desktop and my monitor is plugged into my GPU. I think minecraft also says that im using my gpu. If you want a screenshot i'll post it
Funny that you call it lag, because somebody in another thread had a go at me for referring to low frame rate as lag.

Anyway, when you say 30, do you mean EXACTLY 30? Because if so, that could be your frame rate being restricted for what ever reason.

V-sync, perhaps?

Low frame rates. On the home screen, its locked at 30 frames, but in game it fluctuates between 30-20 and sometimes if im lucky 40. I checked the ingame settings to see if my framerate was being capped but it was set to unlimited. don't rule out the possibility of it being capped however.

I said in the 2nd paragraph that i did that. I'm using a desktop and my graphics card is plugged into my monitor. that means it cant use my onboard graphics, right?

Well the thing is if I go into my NVIDIA control panel and go into the options for the program, it doesn't have a dropdown menu on what graphics processor that I want to use. Is there another way?

Hmm. I'm not sure. Is there a control panel for the integrated card?

Ok so im not really sure how I would do that If i could, however i think it might be a problem with java however. When I go into java in control panel it says Java (32 bit) even though i have and only have 64 bit installed.

Try checking if you are running any other procceses. Clean your computer with CCleaner or whatever program you use. Reinstall Minecraft and Java (64 bit). Make sure you are using your dedicated GPU. in the Minecraft launcher, go to launch options and click the profile you are using. Enable JVM Arguements and where it says -Xmx1G , change 1 (or whatever number it is set to) to your desired RAM. Often times this is automaticlly set to 1 GB, which will cause lag. Try using 4 GB if possible.

Also, are you getting bad frames in all games, or just Minecraft? Are you getting 20-30 FPS on all settings? Do you have any shader or resource packs installed?

Minecraft is the only game that I get 30 frames in. I play The Witcher 3 at almost max settings.
