Hidden & Dangerous 2 is a pretty realistic and tense WW2 era tactical shooter, I suggest you check it out.

It's not on steam just yet, but World War II Online looks pretty slick.

It's a bit archaic and a bit underpopulated, but for it's time (original release was in 2001) it was quite ground breaking, yes.
so i am the first to comment after 3 years and now everyone is commenting

Very realistic I believe.
I've read some really good essays/stories about this game. Seen several videos of it on YouTube, as well, and I agree this is probably the most realistic one out there.
I'll never forget how awesomely realistic the first Medal of Honor, on PSone, seemed when it first came out. I was absolutely amazed by it. One of those "Morrowind" experiences, where it was like "this changes everything", and it's rare to get that feeling again in a game.
Battlefield V

lol jk
Call Of Duty

War thunder
The tanks and vehicles are very realistic, but everything else is not realistic. I wouldn't call War Thunder a historically accurate game.
The models are indeed quite accurate, along with the interior models as well. However, War Thunder is definitely not realistic, and I say this as a guy who's played over 600 hours of it.
Hell Let Loose and Post Scriptum are the 2 best WW2 games, Hell Let Loose is newer and still in early access so is getting new stuff all the time, very recently had a huge update added with over 6gb of content.

I was deciding between the 2 in the summer sale and I went with Hell Let Loose. Post Scriptum has a higher level of toxicity and people kicking you if you do the slightest thing wrong, Hell Let Loose is less strict from what I hear.

Same, 600 hours in the game and I wouldn't ever say it's anything close to historically accurate or realistic. Just very accurate when it comes to modelling, penetration, and such.

It's the exact opposite. The models and physics are generally true to life (bugs notwithstanding) but the penetration values are not. Not everything can be perfect. It is a game, after all.
