The Apocalypse Zero has a total of 11 volumes, and the english release was dropped at volume 6 or 7.

This is true. The industry has lost a lot of talent over the last few years. It does not maybe seem like it, but it is in a down turn financially right now.
p.s. we pay for a sub at Crunchyroll and Funimation. Also Netflix has a bit of stuff on it as well.
