Getting sick while playing a game
Hi.

I am a newbie, so this is my first experience playing PC games - keyboard and mouse, system Windows.

I have noticed when I play a game (ok, horror), for example, Slender: Arrival, when I must run with shift command and my mouse navigating left to right, I get sick while playing. I almost throw up and get a headache thus I can not play a game marathon for more 2+ hours.

I am 30 years old female. I have never had a problem; just I remember when I was a child and played silly DOS games, Aladdin, Dangerous Dave or Turok Dinosaur Hunter, I would get exhausted.

My friend, who is an experienced PC game player, said to me that I have maybe a problem with perception sight, that a lot of people suffer because of it.

What do you think or what should I do to get better? Thank you for any response and ideas.

How close are you to the monitor when you play? I've heard some people have a better experience when they are a little more distant from the screen during gaming sessions.

About 38 cm (15 inches).

Yes... It sounds a lot like what the mod suggested.
bad Motion sickness aka Gaming sickness.
Nothing you could do about it I am afraid. You have to choose games carefully.

According to wikipedia, this happens because your eyes notice a fast movement, while your body is actually sitting/standing still.

As with epilepsy (while epilepsy is, of course, much worse than motion sickness.... maybe this is a stupid comparison)... If you know that you suffer from it, you can't play some games.

Thank you all for suggestions, I will look into the settings.

A little personal background.

I am deaf and wearing hearing aids from as long I can remember.

And yes, I am very susceptible to car sickness from childhood times, I always have to take a Dramamine (anti-nausea med) to survive the drive (but only if I am not the driver).

I also have glasses from age 7 (mixed dioptre and it changes regularly per year, so I am waiting for to get a new glasses right now).

But yes, I can read books on PC desktop monitor (it is 22 inches LED), and I am watching movies with no problem. I also have MacBook Pro 15 inches laptop and the same problem with playing games but not with reading or watching movies.
IF your deafness is any way related to any issues with the fluid in your ears which are used for motion sense and balance, then this would go a long way to explain the susceptibility to motion sickness and the symptoms you experience playing some games.

Playing games is viscerally different from watching movies in the manner in which we are engagerd and lgranted a limited illusion of capacity to influence direction of motion. This is more subconscious and the brain can take appropriate response.
