Here are a few I personally like:
- Dragon Age: Origins
- Baldur's Gate II (They have an enhanced edition)
- Neverwinter Nights series
- Pillars of Eternity
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
Risen series
Divinity: Original Sin series
I am so not at all nostalgic for crappy 8 bit or 16 bit retro era, but I can put up with it if the game is truly great like the Baldur's Gate series or retro styled Hotline Miami. Only picked Baldur's Gate series up last year and well worth the purchase imo.
Though I get that it is hard for modern gamers to step back into a earlier time and play the classics like the Baldur's Gate series.
