Did you say Trump in Public? some liberals beat up a guy just because they misread a Triumph shirt as Trump, it honestly would not be surprising...
Just so you know mods tend to lock threads that derail into politics as discussing it isn't allowed.

Politics? im talking about the poor triumph fan.

Honestly you make Japan sound worse than Sweden..
I am serious I lived there and every guy I talked to just said they pretty much gave up because it was to hard lol.

I live in Japan currently. Been living here for three years. For finding girls, it depends on where you go. If you are only looking for a quick hook up, there are lots of places for that in Osaka and Tokyo. If you are looking more for a relationship, it is usually better to be introduced to the girl by a group of friends. After that, the girl usually calls her group of friends to get together with yours, then everyone usually goes somewhere to hang out (like an izakaya, kareoke, etc.) After that, you just see how things go. Keep in mind though that most of the time, girls are very serious here. They do not play mind games with you, but at the same time they are very focused on the future. If girls are dating, they are ususally looking to find a partner in life, not for playing around. Also, like girls back at home, most girls here value financial security over everything else, which is one of the main reasons why it's difficult for foreigners to get girlfriends here because it's difficult for them to get any job other than English Teacher without any Japanese skills..

Having a hangout with a group of friends imo is usually the best way.

What if you're not a "hang out with a group of friends" guy or god forbid, don't have any friend(s)?

Well, honestly, that's just kind of how it works here. Honestly, there were a few times where I did get lucky on my own in a bar, but it's not really any different from back home, and those women usually just look for a one night stand. For usual Japanese, the best way to meet a girl is really to be introduced. Go to a party, gathering, etc. Make friends and have your friends connect you to other people. Not really that different from back home when you think about it.

I've realised i'm not very good at life in general if you get what I mean.

Well, it's difficult for me too. I have aspergers, so I also have trouble with my social skills. However, the more you go out on your own, the more you learn about yourself. Living on your own is a big part of that too. Just go out and make friends. Take things one step at a time and try to not stress too much.

To be blunt, as an aspie, I'm socially retarted, yet I'm in a 2 and a half year relationship here. If I can pull this off, I'm pretty sure you can too.

Japan ... hands down.

To me China is mostly know for
- human rights violations
- "made in china" exploitation of cheap workers
- People actually believing that the bones of some endangered animals can cure your ...whatever.
- Pseudo communism (Now that I've said it- are we talking about China or HongKong-China? That's a difference.)

Japanese people have a mentality that seems weird to me too. But I still prefer Japan over China anytime.
Japan is also the only asian country I'd like to visit .... only for a week or so. For the sake of experincing it.

A lot of people forget that in every country people have their own mentality / mindset. And while the western countries are somewhat similar to each other....well. Don't underestimate this.

I agree. If you come to Japan for a week or two, you won't notice anything at first, but you will become very aware of the Japanese mindset after living here for awhile. Some people will get used to it while others will end up leaving because of it.

If you don't mind my question, how's your Japanese? Logically I would assume it's good, but ドミニク (another user here, if you don't know) has been to Japan and their Japanese wasn't as good as I thought it would be

Not that great. Around N4 level actually. I've been having difficulty finding motivation to study lately :/.

Hm.. maybe 1 week isn't enough to actually experience anything of the country..... Then again it's also a HUGE difference between Tokyo and the rest of Japan.

Also... I wouldn't recommend going to a country for a longer period without speaking their language.... at all.
Idk ...does the majority of Japan speak english?

I would also consider myself N4/3 although I haven't done the JLPT (and I am not sure that I want to). I do kanji every day (mainly to keep them in my head, not many new ones) but I feel that I could do more reading and listening practice. It's hard to fit that around my other important studies, as well as with procrastination.

If you live in Tokyo, you'll find some people speaking English there. The farther away from Tokyo you are, the less likely you'll come in contact with someone who speaks English basically.
