I notice a loud humming sound that gets louder the faster I go. It is not affected by RPM's or the gear I'm in.

Recently I have had problems with firestone not doing the alignment correct and the car pulling and wobbling at 40-60mph.

Would this cause the wheel bearing to go out?

Is it hard to replace myself?

I would get it checked out by a pro before your wheel flys off while drivng which will cause greater damage that will cost you more. Had a tire fly off while driving over a bad break job. Better safe than sorry.

Yeah, that sounds like a bearing issue. You can drive for quite a while with a bad bearing, but definitely get it replaced soon. It's honestly very easy to replace and should only run you about $60 for the bearing.

Also - depending on the bearing they always need to be replaced at some point. The only thing that causes bearings to go bad is just normal wear and tear of driving. Most are good for a bout 60,000 miles or so.

How can I determine what side its on?

Also, I bought 2 used tires and the put them on the front. my co worker said that might also be the cause of the noise. Or transmission fluid? I haven't changed it since I got it either.

That's the tricky part. If you have the cash, just do both bearings. If one is going, the other is probably on its way out too.

I honestly doubt it's the transmission fluid, but the new tires could be the noise. Wheel bearing hum is very distinct and usually kicks in when you're going 40mph and faster. I wish I could describe the noise, but it's just o e of those things that you hear and you know right away what it is.
