The people who voted for EA could try and justify their reason to their parents who I'm sure know a lot of other companies that have done worse stuff than shutting down a studio and publishing a mediocre game.
I've heard far far worse things about Steam support and how it's the absolute worst support. With EA support I've generally heard good things.
Personally I haven't been in need of contacting EA support or Steam Support for a VERY long time so I can't judge on them because things might have changed.
Maxis is still alive but they might be bored of making The Sims type of games by now. Also their business model have always been the same. I don't think Bullfrog would be that successful either.
Pandemic have basically 2 good titles what I saw which was Battlefront titles. Rest are probably meh.
Mythic last game was the Dungeon Keeper for Mobile which was absolutely horrible for the franchise. They deserve to be shut down for that.
I don't really wanna look up the rest as I don't remember their names. But it's common for big companies to shut down game companies they have bought up that can't make good games.
Activision does it as well. The Rockstar games where canceled pretty quickly when they found out people didn't really want to buy another set of plastic toys.
Oh yea and Lucas Art being shut down wasn't bad. That's what happens when you keep making ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Starwars games for an entire decade. You can't just keep pushing out ♥♥♥♥♥♥ games after ♥♥♥♥♥♥ games and expect to be running a company. No, the last game they showed didn't show much promise either.
Battlefront was not €70 on release unless you went for the Deluxe edition. There was a normal edition for the base price of $60.
While the game doesn't have a ton of weapon the weapon variation is has is good because you get a lot of different type of guns to use. The gameplay and maps are all just fine. A bit too few but in BF3 and BF4 all people played was Metro/Operation Locker and most people stuck with the main weapon they got from start. So weapon variation probably isn't needed.
It was also of very high quality so you could really immerse yourself as a soldier in the Starwars franchise. Heroes couldn't be OP as hell because that'd be boring.
The reason for no SP campaign is most likely due to Disney didn't want any extra Starwars stories popping up and also because people hated the SP campaign in the three previous games and only wanted them to focus on MP. So they got that. While they where in a bit of rush to get it out they did a good job with getting the gameplay right.
As for DLC and season passes. EA does not do Season pass for Battlefield games. They have DLCs and then they have Premium. Premium gets you EVERYTHING to Battlefield game that you bought it for. In BF3 and BF4 this easily doubles the amount of content you have after buying it. It's just $60 at launch and will drop to around $40 to $50 just some month or two after the release.
It's also cheaper to buy Premium if you plan on getting all the DLC and right now for BF1 it's $45 on Origin now. The base game cost about $40 as well.
Most other BF games are now pretty cheap as well and this is their market strategy. They will lower the price after the first initial month or two to get the rest that won't pay full price for the game.
I've seen this with every Battlefield title so far. Later on it's basically only Premium that cost. Then you get both together for about $40 to $50 to just get everything at once.
Plant vs Zombies 2 got quite a bit of content in it and is priced pretty cheaply now. Even the Ultimate edition which is about 64% off now. But at launch it had plenty of content and SP for both plants and Zombies. It plays a bit different from normal game too.
Deluxe normally just gives you access to the first DLC that comes out when it's released and the ultimate edition gets you everything. But I don't think Plants vs Zombies 2 got any DLC so the Ultimate probably just gave extra points to spend on card packs.
But you can also upgrade your normal edition to Deluxe one for a much cheaper price.
You don't need to pay for any Micro transaction in the game either. You can use it to unlock stuff quicker but that's about it.
It's easier than the Dead or Alive game I mentioned earlier or basically any GearBox game with a ton of DLC + Season pass that don't get you everything.
So with EA games it's either just Premium or Ultimate edition and you're done. This also helps the game itself because if everyone got Premium or the Ultimate edition more people will be ready to play once the DLC comes out. Which is a good thing for Battlefield series.
Battlefield 1 for me has been really enjoyable because in every other BF game there have been massive choke points on maps but in BF1 the combat shift so much that you rarely get stuck at one part of the map. I can forgive the low amount of weapons because if we they stayed true to the time zone we'd have even less. Also the damage values ain't so high on most weapons either unless it's a shotgun.
As for Denuvo, I really haven't had any issues with this DRM and I doubt anyone else have had it either. I can only remember the DRM StarForge for like a Splinter Cell game that caused some real issues.
You and EA both fail to realize that the people who vote ONLINE are people who also play games online. No, calling them nerds was never going to work. Besides, if the world's bigger problems are an excuse for companies to get away with anything then we should burn it all down and start from scratch.
You've heard good things? About EA support? Was that in your previous planet/alternate universe? Because if not, that's a lie. No one ever praises EA for their support. There's no reason to, cause it's atrocious.
I didn't "go" for anything. Only fools bought battlefront. I remember it being 69.99€, which is inexcusable, even for the few additional skins or whatever deluxe edition had. To add to this, like i said before, EA sets a fixed number on their games' prices, which means Americans pay less, because 60 usd IS NOT 60 pounds or euros.
Wrong, wrong and wrong. You can't just not make stuff because people don't use it. Everything you say works against you and your interests as a consumer. It's hard to believe. You are basically saying it's ok for them to work a lot less for much less content but still charge you full price. It's been a while since i last came across a "i can't even" this big.
I'm not getting in detail about battlefront because i never played it and i dont care much for star wars I'll take the word of all the hardcore fans who hated it, and all the reviews pointing out how much of a cashgrab it was.

I don't care about 3/4/5/whatever year old online fps games. Nor do most people. Of course the prices will drop, nothing special with EA. Point is they keep the prices high for long after release, a lot longer than other games. Also, asking 50€ for a season pass(because premium is nothing more than a season pass) months before the game is even released(bf1) shows how much they care about you filling their pockets with your money. And battlefield 1 is terrible. Another battlefront with lack of content. 4 guns for each class is ridiculous. There's no reason to level up 10 hours in.
It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ indie game. How do you find it reasonable for a game like plants vs zombie and gta v to cost the same(at launch)? Stop making up excuses for the love of God, speak objectively for once.
Successful strategy to work less and get paid more. Glad it worked on you.
Never said i had problems with Denuvo. I said they probably spent 100k on it and half that money to make the actual Unravel game.
You seem hellbent on defending a company that has done nothing to deserve so. Do you ever sit down and think what's best for you? You should.
This is actually worse than Google who actually do also innovate and invest in other areas of technological advancement.
I never failed to realize because I knew that's why EA got to nr 1 of worst company. It was angry gamers mass voting for EA just because of beef they have had with the company and because hating EA is a thing.
Yes, keep living in your little hate world where EA are the worst. But I've heard more positive things about EA support helping people.
Only the Deluxe edition was priced at €70 and you get the first DLC for it. A DLC that is $15 normally. You don't just get extra skins.
EA lowers the price of their Battlefield games pretty quickly. More so than most other Developers do. It's Activision that barely drops the price for their games.
I see the store in my home currency and the price is about the same as other releases.
It's not wrong because I played those games at launch and for quite some time. Most people didn't care for variation and stuck with the meat grinder maps.
BF1 and Battlefront had less to work with compared to BF3 and BF4 so there would be less content. But it's still quality content none the less.
Metro and Operation Locker are by far the most played maps in BF3 and BF4. This is a fact. It's basically impossible to find servers that hosts the newest maps in the game that actually have players on.
That's what they think doesn't mean they are 100% right. The game is just fine.
No, EA don't keep prices high for long enough. Sales will happen or the price will drop around the first DLC. BF1 already has a lower price than normal.
As for the weapons in BF1. There are more stuff to unlock after 10 hours. Not all guns are the same. Also if they stayed true to the WW1 era we'd only be having bolt action rifles. There are not actually a lot of guns to use in the WW1 era.
It's a full fledged game. I find it reasonable because it has a lot of content and maps to play on. It's actually quite beautifully animated as well. Lots of different classes with different abilities that changes how you play.
It's hardly your average mediocre indie game.
People wanted WW1 or WW2 and they got it. Now you whine because they are somewhat true to the timeline.
So?
I think rationally unlike what you do because all you do is hate hate hate hate. You see EA and think everything they have ever done is ♥♥♥♥. It's unreasonable.
You think them shutting down a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ company like Mythic was a bad thing. Even though they made the worst Dungeon Keeper to date. Did you like that game?
You stupid people!
Most of the DLC are highly detailed and fully animated digital recreations of trains, carriages and routes made by third parties. There are relatively few buyers and the cost of producing them is high. Dovetail games acts as a publisher and only takes a small cut. No-one is expected to buy all the DLC, you specialize. You buy the routes and trains you want to drive. A steam lover won't buy any of diesel-electrics on offering. Someone who enjoys the challenge of driving through mountains won't buy anything on the Dutch network.
You can't compare this to regular games. It's like saying MS is greedy by defining every game and program that runs on Windows as DLC.
1. Hating EA is a thing, because they've done lots to get there. It's not all bad, more of a 90:10 ratio bad to good. They deserve every bit of hate, though, and when they do something praise-worthy, ill be the very first to praise them.
2. It's what you've heard versus what i've experienced (I and my bf mates) first hand, multiple times. What you've heard is basically worthless in this case. EA support can't even be called that.
3. Lots of games have deluxe, super deluxe, hurr durr ultimate ultra deluxe versions, many of which offer a couple more "battlepacks" and camos, for an additional 10€ or more. You're just dumb if you go for that.
4. Everything in the deluxe editions is included in the "premium" membership, which if you decide to buy, you'll essentially be paying twice for the same things.
5. I'm literally looking at the prices right now and they're the same number across 3 currencies (british pound, usd, euro).
6. So everyone's wrong, but you are correct because "the game is just fine". No.
7. The difference between bf1's weapons is their name and little else. Same gun with a different attachment counts as a brand new gun now.
8. People asked for ww1, not for an empty game. They tried to compensate for the lack of content by making each class has its own xp progress. After you unlock the guns, which you do in roughly a couple dozen hours, there is no reason to level up, unless you care about those barely visible ugly skins.
9. Plants vs Zombies is indie. Call it successful, call it the best game in existence, all that matters is that its indie. Drm probably cost more than the actual game. They need to make that money back and have a gain. Therefore you pay higher price for a game they didnt work that hard for. Learn how it works.
10. You have truly no valid points. Does EA get a few things right? Maybe. But origin sucks, their prices suck, their games lack content which is sold through dlc and should be in the base game, customer support is absent and none of these is my opinion. Proof: EA being voted worst company of America, TWICE.
Either come back with something actual or suck it up and leave.
This does remind me of the time Valve and Bethesda tried selling mods for Skyrim, though.
