Becuase data does not travil instantly, and hang ups can occure.

Lag isn't real. It's the internet companies intentionally slowing down your internet so you buy more expensive internet.

Servers sending data to computers take time, and depending on how far away you are from the server's location the travel time becomes longer, so it will take time for your movements and actions to register the farther away you are. It's all about distance.

The same reason there is traffic, too many people in the same lane. So you keep on talking about that free internet for everyone as you sit in traffic paying for it, duh.
