Patreon, Twitch, Youtube a outlet for beggars?
It's really disturbing to see all the people on websites like Patreon, begging for money. Same goes for Twitch and Youtube. What is the world becoming? People are placing themselves out of society's reach and need, secluding themselves in a world of the sociopathic ideals. It's not healthy and it's toxic to humanity.

Something must be done and i hope the governments of the world look into it more closely. Start taxing the people making large sums of money off donations on Twitch, Youtube, and Patreon. Higher taxes on these outlets should be so high as to discourage others from begging. These are my opinions at looking at the larger picture. It's just sickening to see humanity turning into beggars. What are your thoughts?

Every older generation says that about the new generation

Im from this generation sadly.
So you're one of those 'born in the wrong generation' people?

You are not very clever troll.

I agree. Breathing through the mouth makes one hyperventilate and it can show when time comes to swing the troll club around. It's partially humorous, yet mind numbing to a degree. I have to unsub from this thread before others begin to kill my brain cells along with theirs.

they are like street performers more than beggars

Local municipalities often do something about the more creative beggers on the street. Good analogy, I like it.

sadly much of the younger generation imo find it more profitable to manipulate others then to actually work an actual productive job (the ones that usually come with health benefits ect) again I said much not all...as for twitch imo "gimme money for what you do for recreation" and not to overlook the obvious..

Live streamers like on Twitch, especially those who stream regular day-to-day stuff or hanging out with friends, and talk to chat are just exploiting the parasocial relationship feelings this creates in viewers (often preteens) to make money. Then they turn around and complain about parasocial relationships when viewers get creepy.

Not defending when viewers get weird, but it's tone deaf not to acknowledge that parasocial relationships are their business, not some unpalatable side effect. It would be like a casino complaining about gambling addicts giving them a bad name - you're in the business of making gambling addictive and fun so people waste their money. Live streamers are in the business of engendering "friendship" feelings in viewers who are probably lonely and get them to give money as a result.

It would be one thing if streamers just streamed playing games with no commentary, etc. But all the trappings of live streamers are about creating that parasocial relationship. They're on camera and talking to and interacting with chat for a reason. They can say they're just entertainment and "content", but unlike movies or TV shows or YouTube videos, their content is about interacting directly with the viewers on a macro level, which obviously hits that social dopamine switch in people's brains.
huh that makes sense. Digital panhandlers. It's everywhere now.

oh...the corpse rises...

No such thing as "real productive job",all jobs produce something, just becuase you do not like them does not mean is not productive :steambored:

And no, you also wrong, streamers DO interact directly with users... :steambored:

What was the point of responding after 7 years?

It's interesting to look back and see how this situation has developed over the last 7 years. Back then, it was concerning. Now it's endemic. I'd argue that there are "no real productive jobs" anymore, but that's a completely different conversation. How will society fare in 7 more years? Will there still be doctors, teachers, mechanics? Or will we be in a completely digital world? 🤔

More or less like this? Ads literally everywhere and Corporate "loyalty" points system type of stuff.
