Best FPS combat?

I love fps games, but there are only a few that I think really get the shooting right. Doom 4 really did a good job making the weapons feel strong and keeping a fast pace to the combat. FEAR is another game that just nails the shooting, blowing off limbs in slow motion was awesome. What's a game you think has the best shooting mechanics?

I liked AvP 2010 Marine and Predator campaigns and Serious Sam 3 BFE was pretty fast and fun with OP weapons.

Nothing beats using the .50 Cal sniper rifle with explosive ammo.

I agree. It's kinda glitchy but seeing people explode into pieces after getting pool cue'd to death is awesome.

For me Doom 4 is the best modern FPS, but the best of all time is still Unreal Tournament. It's just perfection.

If you want a competitive FPS then play CS GO. The aiming mechanics aren't broken, just different and takes time to learn them.

Halo gets FPS perfect. The Grenade are not to heavy and beginner's can do well with them. Yet masters can work magic with grenades in halo. Also I find all the weapons are balanced and there is no OP weapon. Everything is done really well and it doesn't come down to loadouts when playing Halo it comes down to pure playerbased skill. It also mixes up the simple FPS premise with vehicles. And with Forge there is hundreds of hours to be had with the creative tools offered to the community. Also the campaigns are masterpieces (Besides 4 and 5) and the maps are fun. Its just FPS perfection.
