Are you a game "hoarder"? How do you stop? Why do we do it?
I created this topic knowing that it it would generate some funny responses but also because I was looking for real answers. I have completed quite a few video games ( I'm 39 ) but I feel like my gaming is starting to run me. :P Currently, I'm in the middle of THREE PS4 games and am getting ready to buy 4 or 5 more Steam games. I have 256 games in my library. And I am thinking about the game I want that comes out NEXT Friday, already. What would you reccomend doing to curb this "problem?"

If you burn out on a handful of games, there's another handful you can play since they've never been cracked open yet or played in quite some time.
serious what i did just last week is decide to only play one game through. I picked metro 2033 and am not allowed to play anything else till i complete it

I am a minimalist in all aspects of my life and more minimalist then most minimalists but not the most.

I dont know why people have a problem with hording, its not like things disapear from the earth if you dont own it. its so easy now to get what you need when you need it, it makes sense to only get it when you are going to use it.

steps in dehording
1. get shovel
2. gasoline
3. match

or

if you havent used something or thought about it in a year then it needs to go.

Not anymore. I once had so many 360 games and it was ruining my fun and I almost gave up gaming. I got rid of all of those games and I never want to have a backlog like that ever again

I don't know you can't really sell steam games so your kind of just stuck with them this is why I don't collect digital games as they aren't impressive to display only buy games on steam if your getting a good deal and intend to play them.

I've got 96 games in my steam library and I have about 2 dozen none steam games installed on my computer. The problem is that I only play like 6 of the 100+ pc games that I own

I do it because some offers are actually really amazing and i just need to get it
But ive shifted it to be more useful
Id stalk a few close people on steam and buy them games they like when on sale
Im way more happy having a friend enjoy dishonored 2 than me having 3 10 euro games never installed
Ive also stopped buying games by watching youtubers play it, then i lose interest in it as soon as im done with that, but i also gained enjoyment from game content without spending a buck
Win win

Buy games that keep you hooked, and break up your schedule with a short story driven/heavily animated game once in a while.

i can respect some of your game choices, like negiglee, but come on man you can find better fap material on the internet for free y'know

My ex used to buy games, play for about a couple hours, then move on to the next release and never touch the previous game again. Until you are doing that, I wouldnt call it a problem xD But what might help is picking a game youre interested in and just focusing on that game until you finish before buying more. By the time you finish, chances are the other games you wanted might be on a discount somewhere (or bundled if you like indie games)
