Empire Strikes Back/Return of the Jedi not called star wars?
I always thought this was stupid... When you quote or reference something from ESB or ROTJ saying it's from Star Wars and then someone says "It's not from Star Wars, it's from empire (or Jedi)!" They are ALL called Star Wars... They're just different episodes!

Of course - someone has just been trolling you my dear. Coca-Cola is Coca-Cola, no matter the flavor.

One example would be in deadpool (the movie) when wade and whatsherface are in bed when she makes a star wars joke (ride me like yoda on luke or some ♥♥♥♥ like that) and wade says "star wars jokes!" then she corrects him be saying "empire"

Hollywood is in on the joke. They're all after you!

The "Star Wars Episode XYZ" thing came around a bit later if I remember correctly. But I'm pretty sure it was way before the big re-release in the late nineties. Originally the first three movies were called Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

It's hip to make a big deal out of it aparently.

It wasn't called "A new Hope until 1981, after Empire Was released. It's just an old carry over. Like how a lot of older gamers still refer to the PS1 as the PSX. Still quite acceptable.

Well, maybe it's just a carry over, but, and this is just my subjective experience, the people I have met that make it a "gotcha" moment weren't even born until around the late nineties release.

I don't care one way or the other, I just feel a bit of eye twitching when I see people making the "correct" name a nerd-credit thing.

:conwayshrug:

I don't see a reason to care, really. If someone says Star Wars, I know which movie they are talking about. I still call it Star Wars from time to time. Or Episode 4 when talking to younger people Actually, that and Seven are the only ones I refer to with EP #. Huh.. Odd.

As for nerd cred... Knowing stuff about one of the most successful franchises out there isn't really gonna get you much, no matter which name you use. That's just me, though.

Star Wars (1977), then came the other movies and they adopted the first movie name for the entire saga
