What's the best open world driving game?
I'm looking for a game where you can drive in an open world mostly freely with a choice to avoid racing missions or whatever. I just want to drive around and listen to podcasts.

I've been using GTA V, Mafia 2, and Just Cause 3 lately but I was wondering if there was something better. I saw Forza Horizon 3 but that looks like its mostly just for racing missions.

Everything else is just racing, the only good open world driving exploration game is gta v.

The Crew? Haven't played it much, though.

I enjoyed GTA V, Watch Dogs, and Sleeping Dogs just for the driving scenery.

There's also Euro Truck Sim 2 and American Trucking Sim.

I would say almost all 3D grand theft auto games to be honest. Grand theft auto San andreas may even top Grand theft auto 5 when it comes to it though I would feel.

I hear the crew failed, and aren't the reviews still mixed or worse? it was a good concept when they explained it.... but then, when they launched it, but they fell short of everything they wanted to do.

It probably wasn't completely what people wanted it to be, but think it still falls under what OP is looking for, and open world driving games are pretty few and far between, so figure it was still worth mentioning.

What about Forza Horizon 3 or 2? Have any of you tried them out?

The crew would be great for this purpose. Plenty of varied terrain from cities, to rural backroads, to deserts. It is going to require some monetary or time investment to get other vehicles though.

There is also burnout paradise, which is fun to drive around in although far more limited in scale compared to the crew.

Okay thanks, I'll probably check The Crew out.
