Who is your favorite STREET FIGHTER character and why?

Mine is Ryu. I like his "lone wanderer" style. Also, he have an inner evil side, which chases him like a nemesis. For me, Ryu typifies the conflict between good and evil that we all live everyday.

And of course, he is easy to pick up and play.

Street Fighter Alpha - Ken, because... I don't know, he's like Ryu but faster?
Street Fighter Alpha 2 - Charlie, really fun character overall I guess
Street Fighter Alpha 3 - Karin, because of those counters

Street Fighter 2 - Ryu/Ken, I don't like this game that much, so I guess these two?
Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike - Makoto, this girl is insane and she really deserves more attention
Ultra Street Fighter 4 - Makoto/Zangief/Evil Ryu/Sakura/Guy/Ken, all these characters were so much fun and I just had to put them together
Street Fighter 5 - haven't played it myself

Dhalsim was my main when I played Street Fighter 2 on the Atari ST. I don't know whether it was just the difficulty setting I played on, but the AI had serious trouble countering my "stand on one corner of the stage and repeatedly stretchy kick" strats.

This "Keeping the enemy at bay and wearing them down" style of play is actually something that has stuck with me to this day. In most games I play, I almost always prefer playing the sort of characters who use ranged combat, and kite the enemy. To the point where I am simply unable to play melee characters in some kinds of games, such as MOBAs, because it conflicts with my instincts as a gamer.

My favorites are more aligned to gameplay than character. Only a couple of characters I liked due to them being them.
Street Figher 2 - I played this in a landromat when I was waiting for my mother, I liked playing Guile and Ken but played Chun Li the most. Guess I'd say Chun Li is my favorite from the first street fighter game I've played.

Street Figher 3 Third Strike - I've never played:^)

Ultra Street Fighter 2 Anniversary Collection(I think it was called, the one where Ken had a ground roll) - I played Ken only cause I didn't know how to play anyone else and liked that Ken had a roll since I played mainly Smash Melee during that time.

Street Fighter Alpha - Ken cause picking Ryu is vanilla

Street Fighter Alpha 2 - Sakura my Strawberry for this neapolitan ice cream analogy (guess that'd make Ken the chocolate?)

Street Fighter Alpha 3 - After following Sakura and finding Karin I liked Karin for her wealthy, "I'm defintely better than you" feel and she is extremely attractive.

Ultra(Super) Street Fighter 4 - Definitely Dudley. I blame PIE Smug for leading me to that character but before that I was a Sakura fan. Only recently I started to pick up Evil Ryu.

Street Fighter 5 - Haven't played it yet but from what I've seen, I'm going to love playing Karin again.

Decapre because yeah, yeah Cammy clone but she has my favourite charge attacks in the game, she's also very fast paced like Juri.

They may look similar, but Decapre is a completely different character. Too bad people didn't give her a shot due to their similarity, she's actually fun.
