1) Love the judgemental tone throughout your post. People who hold a different view than you are "stubborn" and "hate and are intimidated by gays". Those people who hold anti-gay views are "wrong" but somehow your views about those people are "right" The irony of the right/wrong view is declicous.
2) If you reread the original thread post and my comment you'd see that i'm only attacking the word "homophobe". "♥♥♥♥" just means human, and "phobia" means fear, so literally the word makes no sense. But in the context in which "homophobe" is used it makes no sense either and the word users are either stupid or arrogant, pretentious, and condescending to think that people opposed to gay marriage are simply "afraid of them".
3) It ain't liberals opposing gay marriage. I'm assuming you made a type on either "aren't" or mistook Liberals for Conservatives.
And while I do feel the term is quite overused as a coverall for any commentary, I still feel that fear is a pretty accurate way to describe a very large majority of reactions. I find it impossible reconcile this with with the idea of moral or genetic imperatives. It isn't a moral or genetic need that has caused racism, sexism, or religious intolorace over the countless generations. It was fear. Fear of something orsomeone different.I guess the phrase homophobia is rather inaccurate. Aliumphoia might e more accurate. yet that could just get used to explain away pretty much every irrational hate caused through fear.
I think I will stick with a term that works well, to describe one aspect of our tiny little fear driven world. And go and reevaluate a few of my social decisions in regards to who's opinions I value.
Not in this context. Different root.
