Tokyo Ghoul isn't considered to be "horror" by both horror and anime fans for various reasons.
It's not considered to be good either.

Right, forgot to mention that.

that's why i said it's not that much of a psychological horror. It falls under the horror category and it has some quite unsettling and creepy moments.

Here's the problem with that: Horror is subjective - and if there is one genre that has been done over and over again, it's horror. This goes for both anime and films keep in mind. You might have found it unsettling and creepy, but what about people like me for example? I've been watching horror movies for 20 years, and the things shown in Tokyo Ghoul are known as "shock value". Problem with shock value is it's meant to unnerve you; but if you're able to get past that, there's nothing left to keep you watching the show since it's banking on you being too scared to see the lack of plot or character development.

um..
no...
Did you even watch Tokyo Ghoul? There was MUCH more than just shock value there.

I watched half of it - got bored with it and it's "horror" and moved on to something else. But let's not focus on me because i'm biased af when it comes to horror.

Don't trust what anime critics say - it's the same thing with video-games: most are payed off to say good things, rather then be honest about it. If you like it, great! That means you'll enjoy it more then I did. But that doesn't change the fact that most people don't share your opinion about the show.

Trusting what anime critics say is what you should do most if not every time, but not to the point where you only go to them. I don't see any proof of any critics being payed off to say good things. Look at The Anime Man or Glass Reflection.

Well, to be fair I was talking about anime critics that have their own website or blog - like IGN if you will. I don't know about this, "The Anime Man" but I have seen some of Glass Reflection's work. I agree with you in that they're a good place to see if a show is worth it, but more often then not, it's better to just watch a show rather then hear someone give you their opinion about it. Because they can try to be unbiased as much as possible - they're still going to say __ is bad or good because of __ reasons. And what they think is bad could be a good thing for me - so, to summarize: we all have our opinions about such things and we can't always agree if a show is good or not.

Glass Reflection and The Anime Man always have sections where they have their bias and logic or just logic when reviewing.
This goes for other anime critics too.

I'll have to take your word for it then. My expertise is with live-action horror shows and films as I said before. Still, I didn't find Tokyo Ghoul to have much in the way of horror. But since you watched it (i'm guessing you've watched it going off of what you've said), is there anything good horror-wise about the show that makes it worth watching? I'm curious to hear your opinion.

Curse my 20-words-per-limit-typing skills.

It was just shock value and bland edginess.
I can agree there was shock value and some edginess (a lot of edginess honestly) but there was a really good story behind it honestly.
