Battlefield 4 DRM?

Hello, fellow Steamers!

Kind of an odd query for you. Through what might be the strangest twist of fate I have ever experienced, I recevied a used retail disc copy of Battlefield 4 for free. The disc was left at a fast-food place where my sister works. It does have a code in the case, but something worries me. According to something I read online, a Battlefield 4 code may only work on one PC at a time. If I installed the game and used the code, would I steal BF4 from some poor soul somewhere in the world? Or can the code be used a set number of times, or what?

Second, either I worded my question wrong or you gave me an extremely vague answer. I know it needs the code for activation, but will my using the code 'de-authenticate' the original user's account, preventing him from playing it?

No the code wont work if its with an account.

If the code has been used, it simply won't work.

You'll be needing a code through Origin to play the game too. Or at least the multiplayer aspect. May not be able to play the Singleplayer either. I know how much Origin has changed recently.

The code is only redeemable on Origin. Once it's redeemed, it will be locked to the account associated with the code. Further attempts in using the code will only result in an "Invalid Code" or "Code already used" error.

Once a code has been redeemed, one has no further need for the box.
