I download at roughly 8mb/s through steam so it takes around 1 hour for a 30gb game.

That's with a 70ish mbps internet speed.

Unfortunately, with 35kbps.. is that even 0.1mb/s download?

Steam might use a peer to peer system then so it's different, with a 35kbps speed, can you watch youtube videos?

Not bad for my service options. I get around 3 here on Steam. Once I've hit my data cap that is outrageously priced, then I'm slowed to anywhere between 3kbps to 80kbps.

Steam forums load well always, but activity feed etc are slooooow when I'm over my cap.

Southern U.S

Imagine paying $300 for 60gb of data. Eh, we're hardcore gamers lol, we shell it out to have some fun.

Unfortunately, if you live in rural areas of the USA, your best internet option might be 768k DSL, that gets 80 kilobytes per second download speed on a good day. No caps, but you're not downloading anything that's in the 10s of GBs without it taking days. Either this or Satellite internet that's 10-20 megabit with extremely low data caps.

My data cap is 15 gigs per month during prime time. But I have basically unlimited data between 2am to 8am. If I need to download any games, I schedule them to download in the off hours.

The downside to satellite is I can't play online with satellite internet. The pings are astronomically high. Like 600-700+ ms ping in any online game. The pings were way better on DSL, around 100ms, but I couldn't download anything on that internet. I had to personally weigh the option of higher speeds with caps, or lower speeds with no caps. Wasn't an easy choice, and I'm still considering going back to using DSL anyway. If I could get just a LITTLE faster DSL, even 2.5 megabit, I wouldn't be using satellite. But 768k is honestly just complete ♥♥♥♥. 768k is worse in 2017 than 56k dial up was in 2004. No, I couldn't watch youtube videos on 768k DSL without tons of buffering.

It's been 6 months since I called the phone company, and I'm thinking about calling them and asking if they got anything faster than 768k..... But I doubt they're going to do it this decade. Honestly, if private corporations won't come in here and offer me a viable internet solution, then the government needs to come in here and do it.

Australian internet. My current service gets around 50mb/s although there are times where it drops down to 1mb/s for almost an entire day.

My old internet however is closer to what your typical internet service is like in Australia which is around 5mb/s on a really good day.

Nope, I'm stuck with using internet speeds from 1998 (768k DSL) or junk satellite internet.

I wish I could get cable internet out here.
