Argument against Rap music
I want to make a constructive rant against Rap genre for no real reason.

Listed below are a few reasons why Rap music isn't worth listening too.

(Not ALL rap is bad, and It can go well as a part in a pop song, but usually straight rap is terrible. I'm also not trying to offend or insult people.)

1. Lyrics

The lyrics in rap music is easily the weakest area in rap, they are very repetative and generally have no significant meaning or backstory behind them. The songs are either written by a seperate writer who knows what lyrics will 'entertain' the little 13 year olds, or by the artist just being braindead as all rappers are. The lyrics in rap mainly consist of either

a. Sex and other uneccessary innuendos

b. Drugs and alcohol

c. Crime and violence

b. Firearms and other weapons

These lyrics aren't constructive in any way and spread no positive (or any) messages, this is especially a problem considering a very large portion of people who enjoy rap music are quite young, teenagers, youth etc...

2. The 'beat'

There are two parts in rap. The 'Lyrics', and some noise that rap enthusiasts call 'beat'. This 'beat' is nothing but someone pressing a button on garageband and sticking a thump in the background. It's nothing special, and its only there to take peoples minds away from the garbage lyrics.

3. The rappers themselves

(Before I say this, I in no way intend to direct any of this argument towards African Americans, please don't get that Idea just because they are the most common race of rappers.)

The 'rappers' are usually unintelligent, ignorant, greedy people who get a piece of paper handed to them and they speak it out at a marginially faster than normal pace. Take Kanye West for example, one of the worst rap artists of this generation. He's ignorant (He claims he's a 'Musical Genius', putting himself above everyone else), He's greedy (Spewing out nonsense songs for $$$), and his music is renouned amongst people against the genre as some of the worst.

I don't understand how it's so 'Influential' or popular in todays society.

Thats all I can be bothered saying, If you wish please post a CONSTRUCTIVE, FAIR and not offensive or insultive counter argument. I will try to respond to the best of my ability.

Also if you have anything to add to my argument or have a supportive comment, feel free to comment that.

If there are any grammatical errors please don't hold it against me, I was in a rush and I'm no spelling genius.

I've always enjoyed a bit of the conflict between the old NWA as well. Listening to Eazy E who was a real gangster talk ♥♥♥♥ on Dr Dre who has never in his life popped a cap was hilarious and actually pretty good rhymes for the times.

Of course you also have artists like KRS1 who had very positive messages for the people.

What about Cypress Hill?

I listened to all of that when i was 12 then i moved on to underground because i got sick of the same tunes. I have so much useless knowledge on rap music. I used to have a popular underground rap channels back in 09 , 08 , 2010 07 on youtube it was called rkade79. A vault of gfunk , gangsta rap from memphis , houston , chicago , new york , flint MI , i deleted it when i changed my life reminded me of so many bad times wasting my life away. I also had lots of sureno rap music on there blood music ect ,

I used to listen to real criminals got sick of the fake stuff. Almost all of these artists i listened to are dead just like i would be if i didn't change.

These were the people i used to look up to because i knew no better or was too childish to see the real message and thought life was a little game.

I really don't care for most rappers today. One in particular who I do like is Zack Hemsey. His songs and lyrics most certainly do have depth to them beyond the temporal sort one typically finds in rap music.

I would encourage one to peruse other songs of his well.

A yo Trax let me see what you got
I don't rap if the beat don't knock
I need bass, make it fast, every girl in the place shaking gass
Yea that's that bayish
Give it to her good, that putty stay wet
I know what you want pitch
You hooked on slap, you want that funk stitch
Well holla at Traxamillion
But don't fall in love and start catching feelings
He won't love you back, why would he?
Flipped her and had a sideshow in her puddy
We don't stop doing donuts
Nothing gon change when the police show up
Burning rubber in the streets of Oakland (itccch!)
What are you smoking?

[Hook: Mistah F.A.B and Too Short]
Go go go dumb at the sideshow, what are you smoking? (x3)
Go go go dumb at the sideshow, Thizz!

[Verse 2: Mistah F.A.B.]
The sideshow, they wanna shut us down
But we a'swang something on every corner in the town
Police mad, the streets is wild
3 o'clock in the morning and the beats is loud
Man, it don't stop, won't stop, never would
Somebody gon swang something in every hood
They profile with 'cuds and stangs
Now a days hommies'll swang anything
Boxes, Buicks, buckets and Chevys
Driving hella fast like Mario Andretti
A hundred down the block on the other side
Only time they slow down when they ghost ride
When they hop out the car, walk and steer
And then thizz face like they sippin bitter beer
The sideshow 2006, ain't nothing like it was when Richie Rich

A lot of my issue with rap music stems from its origins. The genre got its start as a means of people of color to discuss the issues in the cities they grew up in, being sucked into gangs to avoid becoming a target, crooked police, poverty, etc., a far cry from the glorified mansions, sports cars, and women flaunted in more recent entries into the genre. It's become a gentrified self-parody, which to me feels like its cheapening its impact. It's like taking a game like the Stanley Parable, a game that asks what constitutes as a game and asks how to approach story and setting within a game, poses all of these questions about the meta of design, and replacing all of the dialogue with "LOL SO RANDUMMM! RAWR XD"-esque bits and gutting the subtlety of its design. Its not the same type of game anymore, its a shallow husk that fails to see why the former succeeded so gracefully. There are outliers, for sure, but the mainstream always wins in sales, and they've gone superfluous.
