It's all down to personal taste really.
You are pretty much correct with that first statement, some rap from the late 90's and early 00's wasn't that bad, and you're also right on personal taste, but that shouldn't justify the fact that these untalented idiots are making a fortune off talking into a microphone and having their voices autotuned into oblivion.
-IT raps a lot about politics and on top of things he's a smart man who knows what he's talking about unlike your typical rapper who just says "F*** that person" if you listen to his work you will see that he's knowledgeable and quite talented.
-Necro on the other hand is a dirty, grimy version of IT, his genre is "Death Rap" because he takes themes from Metal from the 80s (because he grew up with it and loves Metal) and makes great dark music. It's my go to music at the gym.
You won't hear these guys in the radio, ever. Obviously for their dark style and both admitted they won't sellout because they will be forced to change. I respect that.
Which leads to the next subject, you have probably just been exposed to mainstream rap. Mainstream rap is just like any mainstream genre. For example pop or anything on the radio, every song out there is a lame love song that you have probably already heard, everything in the radio is recycled, just different ways to talk about love and from a different artist.
The same applies to Rap it's all falls under:
-I sell drugs, I have money, I have women
-$$$$$$$$ and more $$$$$$$$
-I'm better than you, I have haters, I'm going to kill you
-we are going to party, we are young
-a cliche empowering song
-love song, I miss you
So I know where you're coming from.
When it comes to greed, yes they are. Certain people have the "money is everything" mentality and rappers just cater to them, that's plain and simple..
Point is, you just gotta listen to stuff outside the mainstream stuff, I did and do and I enjoy it...
However 90s and early 2000's rap is where its at! Today though you have this thing called Mumble rap, seriously wtf is that ♥♥♥♥! Like that one song Panda by "desiigner" only thing i understood was panda and credit cards and scanners, but people will eat this up because the beat sounds cool in the club and their cars.
There are two parts in rap. The 'Lyrics', and some noise that rap enthusiasts call 'beat'. This 'beat' is nothing but someone pressing a button on garageband and sticking a thump in the background. It's nothing special, and its only there to take peoples minds away from the garbage lyrics."
This doesn't matter since the beat is still a beat and it's not supposed to be extremely relevant.
"b. Firearms and other weapons
These lyrics aren't constructive in any way and spread no positive (or any) messages, this is especially a problem considering a very large portion of people who enjoy rap music are quite young, teenagers, youth etc... "
There have been multiple studies disproving the effect of media on people. Look it up anywhere.
(I really dislike Kanye both as an artist and person but) It's stupid to say Kanye is "one of the worst rap artists." His lyrics aren't even half bad. Of course as a person he's no where near the best but his music is completely fine in that area.
Also MOST rappers of this generation (For example Macklemore, David Brown, and Dan Bull) aren't all about sex, money, drugs, etc.
'i pop these n**** caus my d*** is bigger
lololololol

You're right, some of the indie rap isn't half bad, but the rap most people are subjected to and refer to the genre as is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mainstream rap.
Your first statement is correct, it's just that of all the other mainstream genres, rap sticks out as being some of the most appalling.
Use the quote button lol
There have been studies and I agree with them, but it doesn't justify the fact that it still doesn't set a positive image towards the younger populous. As far as studies go the short term and obvious effects are minimal, but subliminal effects may still be a real problem. I sound a bit 'Mum who thinks gta will make your child shoot up the police department', but I'm trying to be realistic.
