>or went to school much
Hell, I was isolated for 6 years of school.
One may see it as a negative word while others don't care for much about it, seeing these comments it seems the "loner" is automatically bullied, or one assumes he is getting bullied.
I go to college, it's a big campus. You don't always see someone hanging out with someone, there's always people by themselves doing their own things (on their cellphones, PCs, etc.) Are they considered loners? If they are, do you think they're upset for being loners?
I talk to some classmates but, only during class, outside of class I go from point A to point B by myself while listening to my music, am I considered a loner? If so, do I care? Nope, not by a long shot, I have my cellphone and I chat with a handful of people via Line and Whatsapp on a daily basis, when I'm at the computer lab I'm also chatting with another group via IRC. Big deal right? This doesn't make me feel like a loner. That's why this term is complex to me...
If they're the kind who is functional but just doesn't like social contact, give them their privacy. It's what I'd want; most of the time I very much enjoy being alone.
