I always wondered this.

where the hell do you get your information
I got this information from various tv shows. There have been several show which have referred to a character In a coma or in a "useless" state as a vegetable and I have no idea why.

Not sure if it's an Arabic thing but we stuff it with rice and meat and cook it with tomato sauce, you should try that recipe, it's amazing
I'm Polish and we do the same thing but with cabbage.
We do it to grape leaves, cabbage, zucchini, eggplants and bell pepper, not sure if I missed something but it tastes amazing :D:

Not the embryo cause it dies once you swallow it eh? You probably swallowed your husband too
no i didn't. hes taller than me and he would burst out of my belly! my embryo that im talking about is in my stomach/intestines area but not in my actual stomach.

If you was an adult you would know the exact part where the baby grows at. And it sure as heck is not the stomach or intestines.
Cheese and broccoli need i say more.

I believe the HATE of vegetables is instilled in people from a young age becauase people overcook them and turn them to bland mush. Then when ever they try them again, they overcook them again to bland mush. If you cook them right, everyone would love them.

It's popular in Romania as well. Well, with grape leaves, cabbage, and bell pepper. Never tried it with eggplants or zucchini.

I grew up in the 60's. Vegetables came in a can and had been boiled to make sure they were dead. Then they were boiled again for 30 minutes on the stove to make extra sure they were dead. Fresh vegetables were boiled for 30 minutes to make sure they were dead.

All this vegetable death made them taste terrible. But they were GOOD for you!. Except they had been boiled so much that drinking the water they had been boiled to death in was almost as nutritious as the vegetables could have been.

About the only exceptions to being boiled were celery and leaf lettuce. But then they were tasteless.

That and I'm a supertaster. Can't stand anything bitter. Including beer.

This was hilarious to read.

And then there's pot roast. How the hell do you call stringy tasteless boiled beef a roast?

Because many of us have been brought up in an age where most foods are processed resulting in sugars and fats the stimulators of our physiology and provide feelings of hunger and enjoyment of eating (So we then buy more and eat more)

Nature does not concentrate such nutrients into fruit and vegetables, a conveneient amount balanced with fibre and water to which we have biologically evolved to accomodate.

Therefore, vegetables and fruits now taste like ♥♥♥♥ comparitively to the processed foodstuffs.

Speaking of vegetables. Why do "they" call a person in a coma a vegetable?
It's a "vegetative state" - referring to the capacity to be alive but not conscious nor aware.

Anything tastes good if you cover it with enough flour and sugar.
