And maybe artilery long stand offs in trenches like in realy world war 2 something like that would be cool and tank battles with normal troops running about
How about having all weapons at the start but you suck with them and only know how to use the normal ones effectively.

If you're going for realistic injury then you might want to put in a shock meter too, soldiers would die from shock much more than the actual wounds in the world wars.
This would be implimented into most games but unfortunately, it's not fun and most bullets wouldn't go where you aimed.
So a bit like a weight mechanic? can't carry too much ammo or weapons or it'll affect your stamina and speed? Sounds good, they need that in most games these days.
Just sounds normal to me.
Don't need to press things, just make it so that your characters animations are affected by his total health and weight, diving into cover would hurt people so..
